What’s in a Name? St Giles, Norwich
Here at PURE we are proud of Norwich and the history behind some of the properties we are privileged to represent. Recently we were fortunate to have those lovely people from St Giles Gin buy a property via Pure in Upper St Giles which inspired the name of their award winning gin!
Following years of research and many distillery visits, all in pursuit of the perfect spirit, this exceptional gin is hand-crafted in Norfolk using a delicate blend of exotic botanicals, producing an elegant and global flavour.
We are constantly reminded with the properties we represent that we are merely caretakers and there is often a rich history or even a promising future for the homes and premises that grace our books and website!
St Giles Street is one of the City of Norwich’s oldest medieval streets and interestingly, during the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries the district of St Giles in London was one of the most notorious in London, known then as a haunt of gin addicts, it is now a well-heeled part of the capital.
Gin has come a long way from its proletarian beginnings, which required 5 acts of parliament to control its consumption! Hogarth's 1751 image of Gin Lane in St Giles (London) is a welcome reminder of the journey Gin has made to the quality product it is now. St Giles Gin is proud to be a Gold Award winner and following this phenomenal success, have recently launched their brand new naval strength spirit- St. Giles Divers’ Edition.
The property at ST Giles has now done a full circle and we at Pure have now successfully let it out to new tenants. Contact us for all your property needs here.
